Graham Dorrans marked his return to action in the friendly against VC Fusion with a superbly placed freekick after 3 minutes.

And it wasn’t just the perfect run out for Dorrans as assistant coach Michael Appleton believes it was the perfect test for all of the squad.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the final whistle sounded, he said.

‘Obviously the games are about fitness, but it’s nice to get that first win. We made a good start, but to be fair them, they came back into it and started moving the ball around well. It was the kind of workout the lads needed.’

After our first two games of the pre season, all of the 26 man squad have now had pitch time, and we should slowly start to see Roy’s preferred starting 11 take shape as the next few games tick through.

We also ended the match without any injury issues.
