Gareth McAuley has said Albion are targeting 10 clean sheets again this season, but with how we’ve started he’s actually hoping for more.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the 31 year old said he was pleased to see us hold two clean sheets already this season, and whilst 10 is the aim, he’s confident we can better that this term.

‘We’ve managed two clean sheets so far, we got ten last season and that is the minimum we expect of ourselves this year. Jonas is massive for us and we hit it off straight away, we developed that last season and we’re looking to make it even better again.’

As for his second against Everton, McAuley said.

‘I’ll take the goal, but I’m happier with the clean sheet.’

There’s enough firepower in the team to score goals, so if we can keep more clean sheets than last season there’s no reason at all why we can’t improve on our league finish and turn some of those draws into wins.
