Clarke Wants Odemwingie Stay

Steve Clarke has said he wants Peter Odemwingie to stay at the club despite the twitter meltdown in recent days.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the furore, Clarke confirmed that Peter had been left out of the squad for the Everton game, but said it was so he could spend time with his wife and recently born son, who are in hospital.

‘What has happened has been unfortunate, a situation that did not have to develop. QPR have put two bids in, the bids are not acceptable to us. The ball in back in QPR’s court. Peter’s comments haven’t helped but I feel he has been really badly advised. Harry Redknapp alluded to that when he was taling about gang warfare with agents fighting to get a bit of a deal.’

Possibly true, he was advised to step away from the keyboard, and didn’t take that particular piece of advice did he.

‘Can we keep Odemwingie? Yes. I think we can because if QPR don’t come up with a bid which is acceptable to West Brom, then I don’t see what the solution is. You can’t just let a player go. If it doesn’t happen and he is here on February 1, then it becomes a different story and there are different bridges to be mended and different conversations to be had. I personally hope he is here on February 1 and we can look forward to having him as part of our squad.’
