Steve Clarke has admitted he has a fair bit of disappointment from the Sheff Wednesday game, but overall he was pleased with the spirit the lads showed to get themselves back into the game.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the 1-1 draw, Clarke said he felt we were very unlucky to go behind in the manner we did – a deflected cross – and whilst our performance and our heads dipped for a while, he was pleased to see us show the spirit to get back into the game.

‘It was a good performance, apart from the first couple of minutes, when we made a couple of sloppy passes, we controlled the game until Wednesday scored. It was an unfortunate goal and our reaction to losing that goal was disappointing, as we didn’t get back into the game before halftime. There were a lot of tired legs, and there wasn’t quite the same sharpness, but we basically controlled the second half. We had to rely on a long range shot from Peter to get us a draw, but it was a well deserved draw. It was good for the players to get a little reward for their efforts.’

Hasn’t really been a flying start to pre season, but they are all about fitness so we shouldn’t be reading too much into the results.
