Steve Clarke has said that the Hannover game was the perfect test for Albion at this stage of pre season.

Speaking to wba.co.uk our head coach said of the 2-1 loss.

‘It was a perfect workout. We got a good 60 minutes into most of them. James (Morrison) and Graham (Dorrans) stayed on a bit longer which was a bit of a risk at this stage but I didn’t want to put too many of the young players on too early.’

Clarke adds that he was pleased with the goal we scored as it had been something they had worked on in training, but the first goal against us he thought was down to sloppy passing, but he accepts you get that at this stage of pre season and he feels we were unlucky with the second goal.

Elsewhere on the official site, Clarke also explained that Shane Long was missing from the squad because he has a minor toe injury, however he’s expecting to have him back in contention for the game against Puskas FC Academy on Monday.

Monday might also come too soon for Youssouf Mulumbu as Clarke feels he needs a few more sessions under his belt before he actually takes to the pitch.
