Ahead of the return to proper football, Steve Clarke has said he is hopeful that a few will return in time for the game.

Speaking to wba.co.uk mainly about Romelu Lukaku who missed out on international duty following pain in his ankle, Clarke said.

‘We’re hopeful Lukaku will be fit, he’s had a pain in his ankle for a few weeks. He felt it again against QPR and didn’t feel it was right to go. It’s not a big problem but it’s one we’re mindful we don’t want to become a big problem.’

In better news, Clarke also said that Jerome Thomas was back in training and feeling fine following his minor op. Boaz Myhill is also expected to return to training next week.

However doubts still remain over Steven Reid, Chris Brunt, and Billy Jones.
