Steve Clarke has confirmed that Chris Brunt will remain as club captain, and also talked about his high hopes for the Youssouf Mulumbu and Claudio Yacob partnership.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the head coach explained.

‘I haven’t seen any reason to change the captaincy and I said that quite early on when I came in.’

Good move really, Brunt has done a good job and will provide some stability in the first team with the changes Clarke has brought in.

He also commented on how well Claudio Yacob has settled in, and said he’s hoping for big things after seeing him and Mulumbu team up against Forest.

‘Having those two in there allows you to be a bit more expansive in forward areas. It was the first time I had them both in a physical condition to play so it was a chance to look at that. I thought they did well.’

Adding for Yacob.

‘Claudio’s come here and because he’s a free transfer people tend to look down their nose because he didn’t cost any money. But he’s been capped by Argentina and I think that says enough.’
