Clarke Adds Voice To International Nonsense

Steve Clarke has become the latest in a long line of managers to voice his concern at the timing of international friendlies.

Albion will lose 11 players for this midweek international break, totally disrupting training plans for the Liverpool opener – and whilst Clarke concedes that all teams are in the same position, it’s certainly not ideal.

‘More experienced and better managers than me have said that it’s a nonsense to play international matches in the week leading up to the start of the season. I lose 11 players next week so we’ve had to do a lot of work this week towards the game against Liverpool. So don’t worry, we’ll be ready!’

Clarke also adds that he’s still hoping to add another one or two faces to the squad before the window closes.
