It’s being reported that newly promoted Premier League side Cardiff City have now cooled their interest in West Bromwich Albion winger Matt Phillips.
Cardiff cooled their interest in Matt Phillips earlier this summer after being told to stump up £15m #wba https://t.co/1ciXnfpcps

I hadn’t actually caught this speculation so I’m not sure how long it’s been ongoing, but the Express & Star have reported that they were quoted £15million earlier this summer and have now decided to not progress a deal any further.
As a rumour, it appears it might be pretty fresh though as their report states that Neil Warnock has now confirmed contact over the 27-year-old but that they were certainly put off when we let them know the valuation they had to reach if they expected us to do business before the transfer deadline window slams shut.
Middlesbrough are also linked with him as Tony Pulis knows him well, but whether Boro would stretch to that fee for the Scotland international remains to be seen.
stoke need to match wba's valuation and club want to line someone up first anyway. It's all in the piece Charlie, please read it first

that was the first response to Warnock, I imagine they could be talked down but get impression they want £10m+. Also, with McClean (prob) going and 46 games a season I doubt Burke will be devoid of chances if Phillips stays

I'd like to see Snodgrass in to replace McClean. He's proved very effective for a number of clubs at this level. And at 30 still has plenty of football left in him.

recruitment dept and DM have been identifying targets. Negotiations done by Jenkins, Garlick, club lawyer SImon Carrington, and DM too.

I like how we’re handling business. DM knows the key players and who will be highly rated and he’s not letting them go cheap. He seems to look for young and exciting players. If anyone’s not excited for the season ahead, then you’re probably one that moans all the time ????????♂️

I wouldn’t say it’s obvious he wants to go, not acting anything like Dawson is for example. He’d obviously like a premier league move but I can imagine he’s in the same boat as Rodriguez, Rondon, Gibbs and Livermore, will move if we accept a bid but not massively bothered????

I would imagine they are bothered, and with everyone myself included , they would probably be cheesed off thinking we are asking too much and all they want for selfish reasons is a premiership club where they double their wages and a fat signing on fee.

If we got ten mill plus for him i would be amazed , decent player yes but how many games he dont do enough.
