Chris Brunt has described his strike in last night’s match against Yeovil as one of the best goals of his career.

Speaking to wba.co.uk following the 4-2 win, Brunt has more than one reason to be happy with his performance. A fantastic goal and valuable pitch time as he steps up his fitness after being dogged by a calf problem through pre season.

‘I hit it really well and it’s up there with the best I’ve scored. I was delighted to see it hit the back of the net. Pre season was a bit stop start for me and it was great to get 90 minutes under my belt, I’m starting to feel fitter.’

As for all the changes Clarke made, Brunt believes it shows how far Albion have progressed over the past few seasons that we now have that kind of depth in the team.

‘I think we’ve got a lot of strength and depth this season and we can maybe hope for a little more from the cup games, but we’ll see. To go down to Yeovil with the team that we had and put on that sort of performance does show where we have come as a club in the last couple of seasons. The main thing was to get in the hat for the next round and we’ve done that.’
