It’s being reported that Chris Brunt won’t be risked for the FA Cup fourth round tie against Peterborough United and on loan Arsenal player Serge Gnabry is back in training.

The Express and Star state that our new regular left back’s calf injury is touch and go and the decision has been taken to give him longer to rest, because there is a good chance an early return could see him out for far longer with a more serious injury.

He picked up the problem in the third round replay against Bristol City and missed the recent boredraw with Aston Villa. It’s hoped if he misses out this weekend, he’ll then be ready for a first team return without long term concerns.

With Sebastien Pocognoli putting in a decent showing as his replacement – much to the delight of the fans – he was again dropped for Villa with Jonny Evans taking the left back spot.

Jonas Olsson is expected to return for Peterborough though, so Evans may again be at left back.

In other news, they also report that on loan Arsenal youngster Serge Gnabry has now returned to training having stayed in London since the opening of the transfer window expecting his loan spell to be cancelled.

Talks between the club – presumably over financial issues with his season long loan spell seeing us pay his wages for the year – have stalled on a return, and now it’s a case of finding him another loan spell or he remains.

As such he’s come back to training.
