Goalkeeper Ben Foster has said that the treatment skipper Chris Brunt received in our last game against Everton was out of order.

With a certain idiotic action making the press, I’ll instead focus on Foster’s words following the game as he spoke to

With Brunt received a chorus of jeers when he was substituted in the 70th minute, Foster was amazed by the reaction – but of course it’s not the first time.

‘It’s absolutely ridiculous, for somebody who has been an incredible servant to this club for such a long time. He always gives his all and he’s somebody I would always play in the team. It’s not needed, it’s really silly and it doesn’t help at all.’

Foster goes on to say that Brunty’s desire and application to succeed is what Albion ‘are all about’ because he works his socks off and gives everything, and for him there’s no reason to boo somebody even if they are having a bad game because footballer’s have bad spells, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t trying.

‘If he very obviously wasn’t putting it in or couldn’t be bothered then fair enough, but that’s not the case. Nobody likes that, I don’t care who you are, it affects you and there’s no need for it.’

With the game turning actually on Jonas Olsson and Foster’s own errors in the game, he goes on to say that whilst the team are still coming together after all the summer changes and last season which wasn’t good enough, the players need the supporters behind them as even though they understand the frustration from the stands, they are frustrated when things don’t go our way as well because they are giving their all and sometimes in the game that’s not enough.

‘If they can see the club isn’t putting it in and the players aren’t working then they can do that, but that’s not the case. We’re four games in, it’s disappointing hearing the booing but I can assure you we are working our socks off, we really are. We are definitely a better team than last season but it’s just not going for us at the minute.’
