Brentford Disappointment Hasn’t Knocked Confidence According To West Brom Man

|

With Monday evening’s disappointing score draw with Brentford at The Hawthorns, despite West Bromwich Albion utterly dominating chances on the day and wasting numerous good opportunities to extend our lead, Matt Phillips remains incredibly upbeat as we go into the derby clash with Aston Villa on Friday night.

Speaking to the E&S in the aftermath of the game, the 27-year-old Scot admitted that the feeling at fulltime was very much like a ‘kick in the teeth’ and he was far from alone in that thought, but he feels there’s no reason why our confidence should be dented and no reason why we don’t go into the next match with the attitude being all three points and nothing less.

“On another day we come away with plenty of goals. We have another game on Friday night so we’ll take the point and move on.”

Phillips is right to pick out the fact we are continuing to create chances, as we have done for the vast majority of the season, and it’s the Championship – sometimes despite your best efforts the ball won’t go in, you just have to persevere and that’s very much the case on Friday and we just have to hope it clicks up top as it’s probably going to be end to end.
