Just shortly ahead of our kick off against Swansea today, West Bromwich Albion confirmed the signing of Sebastian Blanco.

The 26 year old Argentinian winger joined us for an undisclosed fee from Ukranian side Metalist Kharkiv and he has put pen to paper on a two year deal, with the obligatory year in our favour on top.

He has passed his medical today, sorted personal terms and been handed the No 28 shirt.

He comes to us as a player capable of playing on either wing, and he been capped by his country on two occasions.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as the news broke, head coach Alan Irvine said.

‘I’m really pleased that we’ve managed to add Sebastian to the squad. He’s an Argentinian international who joined Metalist for a lot of money. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury not long after the move, which held up his progress. Since then he’s shown his quality. He’s adept with both feet, is a nice crosser of the ball, creates chances and also scores goals.’

He can also apparently operate as a No 10 so Irvine is delighted with the balance the squad now has and the options he has available to him going forward.

We’ll have to wait and see if he is the final business of the transfer window or not.
