On Wednesday, West Bromwich Albion’s social media team took to Twitter to wish on-loan Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle a happy birthday.
Having come in as Salomon Rondon left in the opposite direction, West Brom have certainly had the best end of the deal when you look at comparative performances so far, as Gayle has found the back of the net eight times in 12 appearances as we’ve pushed up into second place in the Championship table.

Having quickly won over the fans and helped offset the disappointment of relegation and the loss of former fan favourite Rondon, plenty are already hoping we can turn his loan deal into a permanent spell between now and the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign and as well as the obvious praise for his form, the Tweet allowed fans to remind him of their wishes moving forward.

Birthday or not, few would be against a permanent deal being secured sooner rather than later if we can convince him his future is at The Hawthorns.
