West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry will equal Ryan Giggs’ long standing Premier League appearance record next weekend should he take to the pitch for Tony Pulis.

The 36 year old has long had Giggs’ record of 632 Premier League appearances in his sight and he will match that number against West Ham United should he play, but last weekend also saw him equal another Giggs’ record.

Last weekend in the three one defeat by Brighton, Barry saw himself face his 45th different opponent in the Premier League and that was also a record held by Giggs. Barry of course began his career at Brighton.

If Barry takes to the pitch against Huddersfield Town on November 4, he will become the first player to face 46 different teams in the rebranded top flight and the only sides he hasn’t faced are Swindon Town, Oldham Athletic and Barnsley.

West Ham could also see another record fall for Barry, as if he’s in the starting eleven he’ll become the first player to make a 600th starting appearance in the Premier League – 29 starts ahead of his nearest challenger David James and that would be 88 more starts than Giggs’ total.
