Chris Perry joins his former Wimbledon team-mate John Hartson at The Hawthorns after joining Albion on a Bosman transfer. Perry was released by new Charlton boss Iain Dowie after making 28 appearances for the Addicks in the Premier League last year.

Perry chose Albion ahead of rivals Birmingham City and it is thought that Hartson played a part in the defender choosing The Hawthorns. Hartson and Perry played together at Wimbledon before they went their separate ways with Hartson joining Coventry City and Perry going to Spurs.

At 5 foot 8 inches tall some would say that Perry is small for a centre-back but he has played his part at the highest level for Spurs and Charlton and Albion have acquired the services of an experienced defender to play alongside Curtis Davies next season. Perry reads the game well and his positioning makes up for his lack of height.

Perry has made 441 appearances in his career and scored ten goals in total, he made 146 appearances for Spurs and another 84 at Charlton. The 33-year-old defender is currently placed 12th in the all-time Barclays Premiership appearance list with 362-games so his experience will prove to be very valuable to Albion.

Albion boss Bryan Robson will be hoping that his new defender can link up with Davies and help the young defender with his game.

Albion hope to complete the signing of another striker before the week is out and is rumoured to be based at a Championship club.
