It may have been two weakened teams playing last night and the ground may only have been half full but the game was entertaining and the crowd was vociferous.

Again it was a game that the Baggies had to come from behind to gain victory but they were deserving of the win.

Manchester City went ahead after 19 minutes from a long punt up field with the ball bobbling its way to Jo who quickly turned to fire a powerful shot that went straight through Myhill. From then on it was all Albion with numerous chances being carved out but a combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping meant that Mancini’s team went into the break in the lead.

In the second half Albion got what they deserved with a goal from Gianni Zuiverloon quickly followed by a goal from the hardworking Simon Cox. Although Man City introduced Zabaleta, Milner and Villa they never lloked like troubling the scoreline.

It must be a sobering thought for Man City fans to think that there wealthy owners can spend £400m on players yet still have a first team squad that is overall weaker than a team that has just been promoted from the Championship.
