Baggies boss Bryan Robson is rumoured to be interested in making a bid for 19-year-old Cardiff City striker Cameron Jerome.

Cardiff are looking for offers around the £3 million mark for Jerome and a number of clubs are sniffing around him. Sheffield United and Birmingham City are thought to be interested in the hitman but Albion hold the trump card with Jason Koumas.

Koumas spent last season on loan at Ninian Park and impressed Dave Jones with his displays from midfield. Trouble is Cardiff have been told unless they can come up with the £2 million it will take to buy Koumas he won’t be returning.

If Albion are showing an interest in the 20-goal striker I am sure that talks will take place to try and take Koumas back to Wales with Jerome coming here.

Albion struggled last season with a lack of fire power and the Cardiff City youngster has managed to fill the boots of another former Baggie Rob Earnshaw at Ninian Park.

Earnshaw’s time at Albion was cut short last season when a fall-out with Robson meant he was sold to Norwich City during last seasons January transfer window.

Only time will tell whether we have a true interest in Jerome and whether he is what we need to spear our promotion bid next season. He is a promising youngster but still very raw talent that needs to be looked after.

Albion have also been linked with a bid for Celtic striker John Hartson but a move would depend on whether the Welshman would move to play in the Championship. Celtic would be looking for an offer in the region of £2 million for the striker who is looking for a move closer to his family in Wales.

QPR defender Danny Shittu has also been linked with a move to the Baggies but Rangers are looking for an offer in the region of £2 million for the 25-year-old centre back with Albion looking more towards an offer of £750,000 – £1 million.
