Baggies bounce back!

Albion will return to the Premier League next season after a 3-2 win at Doncaster Rovers put us out of reach of 3rd placed Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Graham Dorrans, Chris Brunt and Roman Bednar secured a nail biting win over a steely Doncaster and ensured that we go back up from the Championship at the first attempt.

Roberto Di Matteo is following in the footsteps of Tony Mowbray and Gary Megson who helped us achieve promotions in 2002, 2004 and 2008. The boss said: ‘We always kept the belief that we are a good team. We’re promoted with three games left – that’s an amazing achievement.’

A quite stunning run of seven wins and two draws in our last nine games has justified the risk of appointing a relatively inexperienced Di Matteo and the board should take full credit for that.

The boss was full of praise for the team after their ‘amazing achievement’ saying that ‘the players’ attitude and effort has been key to the success.’

He added: ‘I know we were expected to go straight back up and we’ve actually achieved it, so we’re all very pleased about that.

‘We conceded a late goal and I could have done without that, but we showed some tremendous resilience to win the game.

‘This is probably my best achievement as a head coach.’

Well, let’s hope it’s first of many to come.
