Awful Albion Lose Again

West Brom were abysmal in this away defeat. Although Fulham have not lost at home since September, and we’ve managed all of four points away from home this season, it was a spineless performance from the Baggies without any really encouraging performances to be had as we now get into the business end of the season.

After somehow keeping the Cottagers out first half, despite three efforts rasping off the woodwork and every cross into our box being totally unopposed, our luck did not hold out in the second half where Zamora and Johnson netted a goal each to give Fulham a deserved victory. To add insult to injury, Bednar had a last minute penalty saved by Schwarzer.

Many of the fans are beginning to turn on Mowbray for a perceived problem in selection and tactics – indeed the former does present some problems as no fans I have spoken to can agree on a best 9 or 10 let alone a best 11. However I am firmly against any change of manager, and should we go down, which looks very likely, I would rather give TM the chance to bring us back up for another crack at the top flight.

Also, to look at the table and see the congestion at the bottom end it is hard to really write us off completely; a few wins and we’re mid table. Especially with the great escape still fresh in the memory, not to mention our opponents today remarkable run to safety last season. However, the quality of the last two games was so low it is hard to feel confident about of the upcoming fixtures, even though there are two must win games, at home to Bolton and Stoke, on the horizon. At least it will be harder to play any worse than today.
