Head coach Tony Pulis knew the fans needed the first half showing akin to the one put in against Crystal Palace in today’s game at The Hawthorns.

It wasn’t quite the game of two halves, but undoubtedly Albion were on fire in the opening 45 minutes, securing a three goal lead with strikes from Craig Gardner, Craig Dawson and a sublime third coming from Saido Berahino.

A Jonas Olsson mistake let Connor Wickham in just after the half time restart and Palace did add a second with ten remaining, but second half – whilst still showing some good attacking intent – it was more a defensive display and in the end, with West Brom holding out for the three two victory as Palace threw what they could at Ben Foster in goal.

Obviously Pulis was a pleased man at the full time whistle as he spoke to the media after the Sky screened game.
