Are Celtic Going To Scupper Moore’s West Brom Plans In January

|

West Bromwich Albion have been credited with an interest in Everton midfielder James McCarthy as his parent club are said to be open to loaning the Republic of Ireland international out for the second half of the campaign as he continues to come back from a serious injury.

The 28-year-old recently returned to fitness following a lengthy spell out having suffered a broken leg last January – against us – and the rumour mill has long credited head coach Darren Moore with an interest in him as we look to bolster our chances of promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Yesterday, the Birmingham Mail stated that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was also looking at potentially bringing him in to boost his own options this campaign.

With Everton already agreeing a deal that saw Mason Holgate arrive at The Hawthorns, you would think that might play in our favour, but it is said that McCarthy is a boyhood Celtic fan.

As with a number of January rumours, there’s an obligatory mention for the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham as also having an interest.
