“An Absolute Steal” – Journalist Slams Clubs Board As West Brom Edge Towards Deal

|

Matheus Pereira has been in impressive form for West Bromwich Albion following his arrival over the summer from Sporting Lisbon on a season long loan spell.

The 23-year-old has made ten appearances for head coach Slaven Bilic so far in the 2019/20 campaign, and he’s also opened his goal scoring account for us, scoring twice in our last three Championship matches as well as providing four assists so far.

Having already impressed plenty of fans at The Hawthorns and come in for significant praise for his efforts so far, fans were delighted to hear that he had provisionally agreed terms on a permanent deal – even if nothing had been signed just yet.

Portuguese journalist Tom Kundert has recently responded to that speculation and in an interview with the Express and Star this week, he felt the decision to let him leave Sporting had been a major mistake by his parent club.

“He has frequently shown he has exceptional talent and having come to the club as a 12-year-old he does feel an affinity to it so it is mystifying why he has been constantly discarded. The upshot is most Sporting supporters and much of the press look at the departure of Matheus as evidence of the incompetence of the board, and not because of any shortfall on the part of the player. An absolute steal for WBA and a senseless decision by SCP.”

Given his impact so far, and the fact he’s still adjusting to our game, the fact he will only get better, for a fee of £9million as suggested, this one is an absolute no brainer.
