Following on from the George Thorne Shenanigans, it’s being reported that West Bromwich Albion have now turned down a transfer request from defender Craig Dawson.

With the Thorne and Derby County stuff still rumbling on, with reports that we have now turned down another bid said to be in the region of £1.5million for the midfielder, on the back of speculation that Albion have turned down an offer of £1million from Burnley for England U21 international Dawson, he’s now said to have submitted a formal request to leave the club.

Having joined us from Rochdale four years ago, he has gone on to make 31 appearances for us, as he spent the first year back on loan with them. Dawson also spent time on loan with Bolton to aide his development the other year.

Last term he played in 12 Premier League games for us, but has obviously played second fiddle to Jonas Olsson and Gareth McAuley and last season was further complicated by the arrival of erratic Diego Lugano.

Following the arrival of Joleon Lescott, it seems Dawson’s desire to really get his career going with games may have now overtaken him if the transfer request is right, but at least Dawson is doing it the right way and not crying in the press.
