It’s being reported that Albion are attempting to steal a march on Ben Foster’s other suitor’s and have tabled a £3m bid for the goalkeeper.

Recent speculation has linked both Spurs and QPR to the former England goalie, but with him enjoying his spell at Albion last season on loan, we are in pole position as he is keen to stay in the Midlands.

Our other advantage is Boaz Myhill’s relatively successful spell with our neighbours, so a player plus cash deal may well be the way forward.

Now Clarke is in place, I’d be very surprised if Foster wasn’t his prime early window target, as clearly whatever plans he has and whatever discussions have taken place with Dan Ashworth, for continuity purposes alone, he’ll want the core of the first team in place to build on and Foster certainly proved last season he was an important part of that core.
