5 Goal West Brom Man Reportedly Attracting Premier League Interest

|

It was being reported yesterday that West Bromwich Albion attacker Matty Phillips had caught the attentions of Premier League duo Cardiff City and Burnley and both were tempted to try and strike a deal with the January transfer window now open.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has made 23 appearances for head coach Darren Moore across all competitions so far in the 2018/19 campaign and he’s contributed five goals and six assists in our Championship battle as we gun for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Having overcome his earlier injury issues, he’s gone on to become a key member of the first team squad, so interest certainly wouldn’t be welcomed but if the Mirror’s report is accurate (not something you can always guarantee) we might not have a choice in it.

There’s nothing concrete in the reports and for Cardiff it hinges on speculation surrounding Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool) looking unlikely now and for Burnley, an injury to Aaron Lennon.

They do say we are trying to extend his deal though given our placing in the league, so I doubt I’m alone in hoping nothing comes of this.
