35-Year-Old Gets A Month Extension At West Brom

|

West Bromwich Albion confirmed yesterday that fullback Tyrone Mears had signed a new one-month extension at The Hawthorns.

The 35-year-old defender arrived at the club as emergency back up for head coach Darren Moore after our long search for a right-back failed over the summer and having come into the club at the end of August, he now has six starting appearances to his name, with three showings from the substitutes bench.

An old friend of Moore, Mears has had a mixed impact at the club with his performances and with frustrations from the fans when it came to defensive strengthening given the bids we failed in and the deals that then fell down, he has unfortunately been an easy go-to for criticism at points.

Bottom line is if Moore thinks he can do a job and brings a benefit that’s the only opinion that counts and whilst we all may have our own opinions, sitting in third place in the Championship table gives Moore all the leeway and faith he needs in my humble.

His new deal sees him through until the end of January.
