With a decent start to life under new head coach Slaven Bilic, West Bromwich Albion are riding high in the Championship although it remains very early doors in the 2019/20 campaign and this weekend’s clash against Huddersfield Town gave further reason for cheer.

West Brom secured a reasonably comfortable 4-2 victory at The Hawthorns with a brace coming from Matty Phillips, and further goals from Darnell Furlong and Semi Ajayi who made it two goals in two games. We did have to come back from a goal behind on two occasions though as Huddersfield more than made a game of it until we took complete charge in the final 20 minutes.

Statistics website Whoscored were incredibly positive in their player ratings after the performance, and their star man award went to summer signing Darnell Furlong for both his defensive work and attacking intent – he picked up 9.02.

Completing the top five best performers on the day were Matt Phillips (8.85), Grady Diangana (8.29), Semi Ajayi (7.70) and Matheus Pereira (7.52).

Nathan Ferguson and Romaine Sawyers also received seven plus scores for their efforts.
