£12 million for Dorrans

Okay, so the vultures are circling already.

We’ve been here before with Curtis Davies, Jason Koumas, and Zoltan Gera. Basically Graham Dorrans is a great player so the likes of West Ham, Arsenal, and Man City have shown their interest in poaching him from us. Then they can loan him out to some Championship club or stick him on the bench.

We’re just waiting for Fulham to follow suit in their usual manner.

Ain’t gonna happen fellas.

Jeremy Peace has slapped a £12million price tag on Dorrans – but while that may scare off the likes of West Ham, the others might be harder to discourage.

Rather worryingly Dorrans’ own opinions on the interest being shown didn’t exactly fill the Vital team with much confidence: ‘We will have to wait and see, but I am contracted here, so why not?” he said. ‘I want to play in the Premier League and we’ve got there now so I want to give it a bash.’

Gulp. Give it a bash? Hardly do or die sentiment there.

It seems that Peace is willing to offer GD a bumper contract even though terms have only just been agreed four months ago. They obviously made a bit of a balls up of that then if they are so scared he will be looking for better deals.

Even so, the chairman finished off by underlining his intentions: ‘I want to make it clear again that Graham Dorrans is not for sale. As I have stressed several times since we achieved promotion just over two weeks ago our aim now is to retain our core players and try to strengthen the squad.’
